Lionheads are not a recognized breed by the ARBA. It is however, currently being presented to get it recognized. In the first presentation, a few colors were presented but only tort was passed. Sadly, it failed at the next two conventions.
This signifies that there will be changes made to the current working standard. Previously, tort lionheads could be shown at all shows but cannot compete for Best In Show or get legs. Now, Lionheads (torts only) will still be allowed to be shown if the show organizers allows and accepts entries but this will be up to the show organizers discretion and they are not obliged to. From what I understand, this year’s failure means that its back to square one for the lionheads and torts will have to be re-presented although it passed previously.
Lionhead breeders will not be giving up and will be trying again next year. 5 colors will be presented and it is hoped that the lionhead breed will be lucky next year.
